the floor tom looks like it was originally a rack tom, flipped over and put legs on it, which explains the air vent position.

as many have noted its not uncommon for a 8 lug tom and a 10 lug tom. alot of people try to find those old 14" toms to cut down into snares. i've done it too but never a ludwig.

I am going to keep the 14" tom and wrap it in Silver Sparkle, and as OddBall and another friend suggested, just wrap it over the black. I think it will be fine and match my other Silver sparkle classic 6 ply Ludwig's just fine. Whoever added the other two leg mounts did a very good job. If not for the vent hole being on the bottom I would have never been able to tell it was not factory. I have been looking for a 14". Will be a great addition to my SS set

I just took all the lugs and leg mounts off. There is a round plug where one of the leg mounts went. It was a excellent job whoever did it. So it was a double headed hanging tom at birth.
