You can see the centerline pencil marks on the re-rings; looks too recent and not factory.
Ludwig Snare worth ? Last viewed: 1 hour ago
The whole thing sound fishy... He just text me and said HE WOULD TAKE $50.00 Either He does not know what he has or he is trying to cheat. IN THE ADD HE DOES NOT CALL IT LUdwig just SNARE Drum
Well I would jump it at $50. It's worth twice that in parts alone. That looks to be a decent quality mahogany shell as well. It may not be a real Ludwig but it could be heck of a nice sounding $50 dollar snare drum...and if not the Ludwig hoops, lugs, throw off, and badge are worth getting at that price.
Those wide re-rings look Radio King-ish but too new for that. That's why I'm thinking it's a newer Keller. Also worth more than $50.
It looks like a custom-built Jazz Festival using a Keller Vintage Mahogany shell. They come with 1.5" deep maple rings. Here's a link... http://www.kellershells.com/wooden_drum_shells_vintage_mahogany.php

Bingo! I think we have a winner. Good call.
Still, KO is right, I'd jump on it for $50!

I agree that is a good deal, albeit not a Ludwig. I couldn't have the bare shell sent to me at that price. & I see lots of MIJ snares for more money than that.
1970 Ludwig Blue Oyster Super Classic
1977 Rogers Big R Londoner 5 ebony
1972/1978 Rogers Powertone/Big R mix ebony
60's Ludwig Supersensitive
Pearl B4514 COB snare ( the SC snare)
Pearl Firecracker
PJL WMP maple snare
Odds & Sods
Sabians, Paistes, Zildjians, Zyns, UFIPs, MIJs etc
Item may be subject to change!
Could have a half decent looking Ringo Jazzfest for little money even if the shell is not Ludwig....
I'm suppose to go and see it tomorrow. He said he would hold it for me since he is very busy today and would not have a chance to show it to anyone. I'll report back
I'd also jump on it for $50!!

The only open question is; did the guy who drilled and assembled the drum know what he was doing? Check to see how the snares line up with the snare beds. Check all the lugs to see if any look crooked, no matter how slight. If everything checks out and the bugger sounds good, you'll be getting a drum constructed of high quality components. If it's set-up right, it will sound every bit as good as the real thing.
Best of luck, hope you get it.

Even if the shell is butchered though the parts are worth plenty. Figuring minimums the badge is worth $20, the lugs around $40 ($5 ea.) the throw off and butt another 30-40, and the hoops around $40 (or twice that if they happen to be COB). so for $50 it would be pretty difficult to go wrong. If the drum is nicely put together then so much the better. I'd be wrapping it in something cool and have a nifty not quite authentic snare.
