Stainless steel drums are heavy and very well built, but the heaviest Ludwig drums I've owned was a set of the 6 ply chrome wrapped drums.. omg !!! Tanks !

I marched for three years with a 12x15 stainless steel Ludwig. I can attest that they were indeed heavy.
Hey Scott, are you looking to own one for old-time's sake? :)
I'm going to start "blowing out" some orphan shells over the next couple of weeks. I've gone through my stock and put several kits together... BUT I've got a ton of orphans that will be left over. At least 3 or 4 12x15 SSs...

Bill,
I had not actually thought of that, but I think I'll pass. The stainless drums were kind of a sore spot for me. We had 12 of them and the percussion director decided we should upgrade snares to newer six ply wood. Unfortunately he only purchased about a half dozen and we always marched 8-10 snares so we were always stuck with the SS. Kind of hacked me off actually. Thanks for thinking of me though.
Very proud owner of a new Blaemire Snare 6.5 x 14 made by Jerry Jenkins "Drumjinx"
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.
