Came across this on CL. I know Ludwig made the standards for awhile, but is this also called an Acrolite? Hmmmm

Not called an Acrolite, but a Standard snare, though they are apparently very similar in sound (and construction). People on here seem to love theirs.

Same shell without the bead. Very good sounding snare drum. It is a metal Standard snare. Not called an Acrolite.

It should sound good and similar to the original acrolite, but at that price, you can find an original acrolite.. However these aren't popping up too often. Either way, looks like a good deal..

I do have my keystone Acrolite. I thought about it, but I'm invested in a few other items at the moment.

This model was the S-102 snare drum. It was actually described as the Acrolite finish in the 1968 Ludwig Standard catalog.

Hi!

Great sounding snare, very - I mean very - similar to Acro.

Just a few more harmonics (to a very trained ear).... in normal condition (and blind eyes), sound as an Acro.

As said above no come along very often.

$100 is a fair Price for an all original one.

As far as I can see without glasses, this one have a post-P85 strainer.

Regards!!

There's an original Acrolite (student set with case and stand) that just surfaced about an hour from me... the seller doesn't really know what it is, listed as "Snair Drum and Case".

He's asking $55

I just bought a 3rd drumset and am still not sure what I'm doing with it... I now have 4 snares, two of which are not built and need heads. I've really wanted to add an Acrolite to my collection, but I think the wife might have a heart attack if I try and convince her I need another snare.

The anxiety is killing me!!!

I totally agree with ARCHXANGEL..Yes ! Yes ! yes !..Buy and hide, and deal with the consequences later..

And if she's still peed off, a nice fancy dinner and some romanticizing will do the trick .. ;)
