Ludwig Vistalite Smoke Project Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Thank you for all of the replies and comments. A friend of mine seems to think it was a special order kit because of the 20"BD. I think the folding spurs did add a nice touch to the kit, they look clean and have the Ludwig script logo on them. Kind of cool that they are dated to around 1980 as that is my birth year!

p.s. I would have added more pics of the resto but couldn't figure out how to post more than 1 picture at a time.

Great job on the restoration! Suggestion: REMO clear black dot, or silver dot heads all around! Will improve the sound dramatically. Best sounding heads for Vistalites!

Enjoy them, welcome back to drumming! :D

John

Too many great drums to list here!

I'm going to have to +1 with Purdie.. Remo black dot CS heads will make that kit sound like it should, with the classic vistalite tone ! Congrats and great job on the resto ! Clapping Happy2

Thanks for the recommendations, I will be updating the batter side heads soon. Put new Remos on the bass drum and it sounds like a cannon. What do you recommend for the reso sides of the toms? I understand hanging on to and even using the original heads, but i'm not selling or showing these off, i play them, and often.

From 1980

I personally use clear Remo Ambassadors on the bottoms of my vintage Ludwig kit, which make the drums resonate fully and nicely, as well as giving them a warm but bright tone..However, there is no reason why you should toss the original reso side heads aside.. If they're in good shape, then by all means, use them ! Let us know how they sound ;)
