Marc Series Snare Drums Last viewed: 4 hours ago

Thanks Jay, will upload soon. I agree, if it sounds good who cares. I also have a $3.00 snare I bought and at second hand store, took it to guitar center and the snare didn't have a badge, or no indicators on the snare, but the drum GURU, Wally I know there, knows vintage drums and with the reinforcement edges he pretty sure it's a Chinese snare, and boy does it make it's way into a lot of recordings in my studio.

Anyway the wires are getting stretched over the years and it's time to replace the wires, although still sounding great, especially for recording this technique works incredibly well for most bands I record

I've seen that before, a local guy I know does it. It is a great way of tuning the snare. Won't work on a six lug, but should on an eight and better on a ten.

18 Kits & 40+ snares..

I'm currently away from home and don't have access to the pictures of my CB700 Parallel Lay snare drum. However, I do recall that I used Puresound wires for the drum. If memory serves, I think they are the wires for the Radio King with Clamshell strainer. I don't think Puresound offers them anymore, but many are still available from internet sources. Here's a link to the wires I believe they are... Looks like there are plenty of these snare wires around! Here's a link from eBay...

I also just checked the Puresound website and these wires are still very much in production!

I grew up here in CT and remember the early CB drums having the pearl stencil lugs, same as my Powersonic kit. My kit also had the hex shaft with the ball and socket for Tom mounting. It came with two drum key set screws but was drilled and tapped for three so I added the third. Later I "refinished" the kit and changed to the famous Pearl mounts of the era.

Later, (early 80's I believe) the CB700 had the lugs pictured above with the round design in the middle- a good friend had a blue sparkle (I think it was sparkle... It was blue for sure) CB kit that had these lugs.

Kaman, CB, Gibraltar and Ovation are/were in my back yard...
