Meazzi Hollywood Kit for sale in UK Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Loading...

Hi all, I am new to this forum after researching the kit I have, and found this to be about the only place talking about Meazzi kits. I've been left one by my father and as I don't play, I am looking to sell it. After some research, it looks fairly rare and probably dating from the late sixties. I have a general idea of a price but at the moment I'm just inviting reasonable offers. I'm in no rush to sell it, but the right price will get it!

The kit comprises of:

22" Bass drum

13" Tom

16" Floor Tom

Stainless steel snare 14" x 6"

Original Hollywood Hihat pedal and Bass pedal.

1 Bass mounted cymbal stand

2 floor cymbal stands

1 pair 13" Zildjian Hi hats

1 16" Zildjian cymbal

1 20" Arbiter Custom cymbal

1 18" UFIP Crash Ride cymbal

1 18" Zyn cymbal with 5 rivets in it

1 other un-named 18" cymbal with rivets

1 snare drum case

1 cymbal case

1 suitcase which fits all the metalwork in.

It's all in very good condition and there doesn't seem to be anything missing from the kit, apart from a stool to sit on!

As you can see, I am in Sheffield, UK, so I am primarily interested in offers from the UK, but that is not a rigid rule, if someone knew about, and was prepared to pay for shipping etc.

I have uploaded some photo's to Flickr here:

but I've never used Flickr before so please let me know if this doesn't work!

Any questions, comments or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time

So, you have a price in mind but won't name it. We are all invited to submit offers and the lucky person closest to your price in mind gets the drums.

That's called an auction. This is not an auction site, suggest you use ebay.

Hi Supraphonic,

I don't mean to offend anyone here and I'm certainly not trying to auction to the best bidder. I came to this forum because this seemed to be the place where the experts reside, and I'm looking for advice about this just as much as trying to sell right now.

I said I have a GENERAL idea, but I'm also waiting for some feedback from a couple of specialists here in the UK before I am sure about what to offer it for. Once they get back to me I'll be happy to update here with a clearer idea of what I should ask.

I'm not a drum expert so I'm just trying to be cautious until I have more information. I'm also certainly not trying to rip anyone off, and would be very happy for someone to have the kit at the right price for them and me.

It's obviously a rare kit in great condition, and as such I'd much rather give this to someone genuinely interested in it as a vintage kit who will appreciate it, instead of just selling it to a dealer or someone who would sell it off in parts or something.

Once again, I am very sorry for any offence caused.

Greetings. There is certainly nothing wrong with asking opinions on the worth of your kit here. Keep in mind that any feedback you get from the UK should be weighed more heavily than most people posting from the states or elsewhere.

That is a pretty intriguing kit. I think most of us appreciate the fact that you didn't tell us about your "symbols" and "base drum." Kudos for getting that sorted out first. Best of luck to you.

Thank you very much for the feedback Tnsquint. Like I said, this was my fathers kit, and I'm a trumpet player, we used to play together for local shows when I was a teenager so I'm not completely ignorant about drumkits, but I never played myself, and the most I know is how to set them up and take them down. My father always enlisted me to do this for him, obviously! I can spell it but not play it!

I also want to get this right for his memory, and definitely won't be splitting this kit up. I'd love to hear any more information anyone can give me about it, which is mainly why I came here.

Thanks again

I have a Meazzi President kit and it is amazing! I just set up my 60s Ludwigs and my jam buddies are telling me to bring back the Meazzis cuz they have such beautiful, fat, round warm sound. They are easy on the eyes as well. I hope you find someone who loves that kit like your pops did. And good on you for not wanting to part it out or sell it to a dealer. Those are fabulous drums, I wish I could find the tom arm and mount for mine. Good luck with the sale, there's alot of good folks around here.

Thank you Drwatts, the feedback is much appreciated! The more research I do on this (and not finding much info to be fair), the more I'm thinking it's important this goes to the right buyer.

Also, an update on the kit, I've noticed that only one of the cymbal stands is a Hollywood, although they look they same there are differences, and the other has Premier on the underneath locking thingummybob.

Thanks

Hi,

I have been thinking about getting the kit tuned by someone who knows what they're doing. Obviously it's not been played for quite a while and I don't really have a clue as it was years ago when I watched my dad do it.

Does anyone know roughly how much it costs to get a kit tuned properly?7

Thanks
