Hey...it's not a piano to call pro tuning guy...
Find some professional drummer in your area and
challenge him with your kit. Couple of beers should be enough :)

Oh ok! Just wasn't sure, as I have no idea myself. As it's an old kitI wanted to make sure it got the right treatment, and I can remember my dad stripping down kits and it took him hours and hours to do it! I thought that would probably cost abit to be fair.
I'll ask the local drum shop if they can help then, I'm a bit worried myself in case I can't put it back together again!
Thanks for the reply

Hi again,
Does anyone have an idea on the best way to ship this kit to Canada? Which is the best shipping company, in terms of care taken with their goods, without being too expensive? Just a thought, but I need to look at prices for shipping from the UK.
Also does anyone know what is the best way to pack up a drum kit for shipping ?
Thanks chaps

Hi all, after talking to people and more feedback, I have tried tonight to put this on ebay. It took 1/2 an hour to build it, then 4 hours for ebay to tell me I couldn't list it because I haven't been a registered seller for long enough. 3 customer service agents later, and I'm still not allowed to list this. So I'll tell you here what I'd like, and invite any comments, constructive criticisms or offers etc.
I've tried to list it as:
[COLOR="Red"]Vintage Meazzi Hollywood Drum Kit, very rare, complete and excellent condition
Hi, this is a complete Meazzi Hollywood kit in excellent condition. I've only found 2 other kits like this being sold in Europe in the last 3 years. It was left to me by my dad, and as you can see by the photos, it has all the original fittings intact, including the original bass drum lugs, which are apparently hard to come by. Please look at the photos, and message me if you need any more information or would like extra pics of anything specific.
The kit comprises of:
22" Bass drum
13" Tom
16" Floor Tom
Stainless steel snare 14" x 6"
Original Hollywood Hihat pedal/stand and Bass pedal.
1 Bass mounted cymbal stand
1 original Meazzi cymbal floor stand
1 Premier cymbal stand
1 pair 13" Zildjian Hi hats
1 snare drum case with space for snare drum, stand and stick case
Stick case with 2 pairs of nylon tipped sticks and 2 pairs of brushes
1 smaller suitcase which fits all the metalwork in.
Here's a direct quote from www.vintagedrumguide.com, thanks guys for the information, which was quite hard to find!
"Hollywood Meazzi (pronounced "may-ah-tze") manufactured drums in Milan Italy during the '60s and early '70s, boasting some of the most innovative design elements in the history of modern drums. The 1966 Hollywood Meazzi catalogue proclaimed, "The Hollywood of today is the instrument of tomorrow." The features of these drums caught the interest of prominent jazz artists of the time creating an endorser list that included Max Roach, Connie Kay (with the Modern Jazz Quartet), Jack DeJohnette, Billy Cobham, and Donald Bailey (with Jimmy Smith), plus nearly all the principal drummers in Italy."
I've listed this as pick up only, but if you are prepared to pay ALL packaging and shipping costs and arrange the shipping yourself then we may be able to agree something. I'm happy to package it if we agree on the method and price, but transportation would be up to you!
It all works, and it's a superb kit which deserves playing again after being in storage too long!
I'm happy to answer any questions about this kit.
Thanks for looking
Brian

I'd like to invite you all to tell me if I'm way wrong in the price, or the listing, or anything at all really. Also any offers will be seriously considered, and any constructive criticism will be very valuable. As you can see, I've decided not to include any cymbals with this, apart from the hihats. You can't play a jazz kit without them in my opinion, but none of the rest are Meazzi, so they're not really necessary. I'll be listing them seperately on ebay, if they ever let me become a seller!
Thanks
Brian
OOPS! forgot to put the price!
I was trying to list this at £1500, as collect only, but with the proviso that anyone who couldn't collect, if they pay for packaging and shipping then we can talk and I'm happy to package it up as long as we agree to the method and price (which the buyer will pay). My time is quite obviously free and I'll do the best job I possibly can on the terms we agree.
Am I sounding harsh here?
Any comments please?
Thats about $2,500 US...
Don't see that happening at all..
About everything Meazzi I have bought,I have had to lose money on just to get rid of them!
I think they are super hip drums, but didn't seem like hardly anyone else felt that way...
I sold Dr.Watts on here the kit he spoke of BTW,and I am pretty sure it was around $750-800 for the 22,13,18..yes,18" FT...think I lost $100 on the kit!
Here's the problem , Brian. This is a terrific kit; probably as good as any, maybe better. It's vintage, it's in really good shape and the drums have an enviable reputation-----but you're trying to sell a Maserati, when most of your prospective clientele grew up slobbering over Dodge Chargers , Jaguars or Harleys. You've got to aim for the Maserati enthusiasts, maybe even the Fiat enthusiasts. They are out there. You would be hard pressed to get 1500.00 pounds for it , even if it was a Corvette.
Your price is way high. I would brace the kit with a basic complement of cymbals, hi-hats and a bass mounted ride, offer them as throwins, put in some elbow grease and polish the blazes out of the drums----make them look like they are as mint as possible. Any older drum kit that isn't looking mint, will be considered suspect as having possible problems. Go over the drums with a fine tooth comb and declare the condition authoritatively and be prepared to back that up.Repair any issues, or your kit, halves in value. Make really stellar pictures, with good lighting and showing the kit's perfect details in brilliance. With all that in tow, be prepared to take 1500.00; not pounds----dollars, possibly less and they won't sell in an instant.
Aim your sales towards Italy, Spain , France, either on ebay or on direct sales want ads, similar to Craig's list. Learn some Italian, maybe contact some Italian drum shops.
As far as shipping to Canada. I haven't received anything big from the U.K. for a while because Parcel Farce are such a bunch of thieves, and then the rest jack their rates because they can get away with it but the last time I did , U.P.S. was 1/2 the price of P.F. You can ship an entire kit from Germany for less than the cost for one floor tom from England.
from what i see in the market 800 us
Thanks all for the great feedback, much appreciated. I get the feeling this is more relating to the US market which may be slightly different to Europe perhaps at the moment. I know a kit just like this was sold in Scotland 18 months ago for £1500 and it was missing at least half of the metalwork. There was also a snare exactly the same as mine which sold a year ago on it's own for just over £500. My kit is in excellent condition and nothing needs repairing on it, but I accept the comment about giving it a good clean. I really don't think I'm way off the mark here, but time will tell! Thanks again
Ok, thanks guys for all the feedback, I appreciate the comments, I accept what you're saying, especially the analogy with the cars, thanks for that. I've decided to take a punt on this, given the research I've done I think it's worth a gamble. I've managed to increase my ebay limit by asking them to send me a letter with a code on it, which has immediately increased my limit, after 3 hours webchatting to their CSA's to no avail, it just took a letter! I've now listed this on ebay here:
I'll let you all know what happens, thanks for your interest.
