Johnny goes through kits like Zsa Zsa Gabor goes through husbands.

Very nice, congrats! One theory on this set is that someone or some store in the 60's had a 12" & 14" from a Slingerland "Jet Set" that had been separated from the bass drum at some point & then some owner or store paired it up with a matching bass drum that happened to be a 24". It would explain why the 12" has no mounting bracket (Jet Sets came with no tom mounting hardware on either the bass drum or tom) & would also explain why a 12" & 14" are oddly paired up with a 24" (Jet Sets were typically 20/12/14). Just a guess.
I guess my sarcasm isn't too good. DOH
I do go through a lot of kits, but you have to understand, I live in a one bedroom condo with my better half and our Chihuahua. I would love to have several kits, but there is just no room and I haven't found a kit I'm in love with. So, I trade just to spice things up and keep the band guessing what kit I'll have at the next gig. It's fun and I always have a nice kit.
I also acquired a Slingerland red sparkle 13" tom and a cob Krupa snare in the deal. So, my plan is to eventually find a Slingerland 20" kick and 16" floor tom, preferably in red sparkle.
Then I would have a 12,14,20 and 13,16,24. I would keep one where we rehearse and have two kits to choose from for gigs.
My first "real" kit was red sparkle so I'm quite partial to this finish, so maybe this is a "keeper."
Wish I hadn't found a set I was in love with.Oh,I didn't.I foung 16 of them!I did give up loving multiple women at one time.I found that to be a bad idea!My wife said so.Merry Christmas all you drum enthusiasts(that is a big word for crazies).Jim
Example of Rogers,Slingerland,Gretsch,Premier and Ajax sets.
Various '60's and '70's US,English and Japanese snare drums.
HELP,NEED MORE SPACE!
The jokes on us. There is no such thing as a "perfect kit". Its only in your head, and yours alone. We are suckers, and have fallen into that marketing trap where we really believe one is better than the other, when in fact, with tuning, heads, etc, they sound the same to the "crowd"..Man ,are we gullable!,[sp] or what?
