I am quite sure that these will clean up nicely. You will be pleasantly surprised at the end result.

Then we have this.

I got the head light kit at my local auto parts store and came home to give it a shot.

I spent about 30 minutes working on an area on the kick drum.

It's really shiney but it doesn't look like the color really changed much.

I guess I'll keep at it for a while. The Band

That's just age. Under the lugs and mounts it is always lighter or close to factory. Just clean them the best you can and put them back together. There going t look beautiful. and sound good too!!

Keep going! The bass drum shell cleaned up nicely. 'Sometimes' a lot of that yellowing comes from smoke filled environments. You know, places where drums spend a lot of time, like bars and clubs etc. The yellow on yours is from aging. It's a matter of taste, but I really dig the golden glow myself.

Like, Tommy said; they will drip old-school, vintage mojo.

Too many great drums to list here!

Yeah,

I'm going to keep at it.

Did you see the crack in the tom from the mount?

Somebody pulled on it pretty good.

The ply's are cracked.

I guess it will be okay.

These things are far from being perfect. :)

Okay guys,

This thing is a total mashup.

It seems to me that the snare and the bass drum are from the 50's and the floor tom seems to be from the early 60's and the mounted tom is from the late 60's.

Here is the stamp from inside the bass drum.

The month and day are a little smudged but it looks like it says 1957.

Plus look at the bass legs.

They changed the design in the 60's right?

Plus the tensioners have the WFL on them.

This thing is a mess. lol

I can't wait to get access to the other attic where more of this set is. x-mas3

1957 for that bass drum seems correct. Those bass drum legs ran from 55-61 and they didn't move to the Ludwig transition badge until 1958. It'll sound fantastic when you're done...damn shame someone drilled it for the double tom mount, though...
