My 1967 Ludwig Super Classics MINT. YEEHA!! Last viewed: 12 minutes ago

I am the proud & VERY happy 3rd owner of this immaculate MUSEUM condition 1967 Ludwig Super Classic Kit.

14X22 BD, 9X13 TOM, 16X16 FT, 5.5 X 14 Pioneer 6 lug snare.

14” Ludwig HH cymbals made by Paiste in Germany.

On a scale of 1-10 this is a 10 methinks.

When I saw this on CL, I immediately contacted the seller.

He informed me he was NOT going to sell this to just anyone.

He did not want this falling into the hands of someone who would turn around & sell it for what it is really worth.

He wanted this kit to go to someone who would appreciate it & play it & LOVES Ludwig drums.

After he met me he knew I was the guy. ;-)

These drums have been in storage (40+ years) & have NEVER been played out.

The original owner bought these BRAND new in Chicago from the Ludwig factory when he was a teenager thank to his mom & dad.

Some kids never follow through on their musical studies. ;-)

To make a long story short, after his parents passed away, he went back to his old home to sell the house & clean up.

Well, guess what was in the attic?

He was currently living in LA at the time & across the street from him lived the guy I bought them from.

He GAVE them to him.

But the lucky guy was an expert guitar builder(a Luthier they call them) & knew these drums were worth something but really had no use for them.

He collected vintage amps & guitars. So into storage they went for another 8 years.

Fast forward to last week & only a week after I was at the Hollywood Vintage Drum show.

It was meant to be. ;-)

All original heads(with very little play time on them) on drums, all original stands, Speed King BD pedal, drum throne, brushes(with original owners name on them) & Ludwig Suitcase for the snare drum.

These drums will now be put to good use with respect & will be at select gigs I do.

I played them over the weekend & for the first time in decades they got a good beating & they sounded HUGE!!

Life is good!

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I have an old Pioneer snare and I'm always floored by the sound that comes out of that thing! Congratulations. Please don't tell me you paid $150 for 'em!
