That snare is awesome!
My 63 Prem Jazz kit is on it's way to me! Last viewed: 1 minute ago
That's nice Blair
Thanks Shawn,
wait till I get it cleaned up!...
Congrats brother. I always like Premier drums. Nice build quality, artistic design and they sound really good. My opinion on Lokfast stands is that those are the only vintage stands I would be interested in owning. They are as much works of art as they are functional and quite possibly the only stands made that could claim that.
Very proud owner of a new Blaemire Snare 6.5 x 14 made by Jerry Jenkins "Drumjinx"
Talked to a Premier expert yesterday who told me that they only used the internal mufflers in the BD till 1963.....
I see in the 65 catalog they have just a felt strip....so that could be true...
With that being said...the snare has the large badge...I was thinking it would have the very small one they show in the 63 catalog.....so,maybe 20,12,14 are 63....snare 64 or 65 ?
Oh....2 of the internal mufflers in the toms were shot so need those...and the front internal BD muffler is missing too....Sumo Dude
Very nice! Are you planning to remove the blue paint from the insides of the shells? Since it's so light, it shouldn't be too difficult. I think Premier shell interiors are just as much a work of art as the outsides of the drums. Plus, it will make you feel better in the long run.
What heads are you going to use? Remo Ambassadors all the way around?
In case you didn't have the Remo pre-international part numbers:

Thanks Tim,
glad you liked...
Stayed up till 6 AM working/polishing them!..First time I have done that in a long time...I am almost out of Novus 2,and I still need to do the FT!
I have a friend in town who restores high end furniture, and I am going to see if he can take the paint off....such a shame someone did that.....
Nice kit Blair. Your furniture restorer friend should be able to get the paint off but you could also try thinners on a rag and rub it off. I did this on a refinished painted snare recently where the paint was on the edges and re-rings and I wanted those areas clean. The only problem might be if the paint has got right into the grain but even then it will look heaps better. As thornbeck points out, the interiors on these drums are beautiful.
That's a lovely set Blair. The UK had it's moments!
