My Kent Kit Last viewed: 7 hours ago

A few members wanted me to post some pics of my Kent set. So I took a few minutes and wiped them down with some Novus 1. I have never played these drums, they were not very popular when I first joined the forum and a lot of guys had said they were very poor quality and sounded very bad. So after my usual cleaning I just stuck them in a closet and kind of forgot about them.

I originally found the bass, snare and 13" tom on Craigs list for 15.00. The floor tom was missing but I ended up finding one on ebay for 175.00 + shipping, so it cost around 200.00 for it. So this is my 215.00 Kent set in 14x22, 9x13, 16x16 and matching 5x14 snare. The worst thing about them is the four extra holes in the bass drum where somone installed a rail mount at one time. I need one more bass drum claw and t-rod, plus both spurs to make this complete. If you know where I can get those parts please send a PM.

Its no museum piece but still a very nice example of a drum company who competed with the big companies and lost. Someday I will get them tuned up and see just how bad they do sound.

Thank you!

These drums were rescued from a barn in Wyoming Illinois. Pretty much covered with dirt and grime and a few pieces of straw. I even have the original kick pedal, have not done any restoration on it, but I do have it. Some cymbals and a Zim-Gar floor tom came with it.

Some before pics,

Thank you!

Those drums look great and will sound amazing. Fifteen bucks for the 3 pieces...total score!

Gotta love the thin shell Kent's. That is a beautiful blue sparkle. Here's mine. Extra holes in the bass drum as well and painted white interiors but they truely do sound great

I love mine ! Even though there are some who like to talk smack about Kent drums . I think they sound great and look good too . I had my first Kents as a kid in the early 70s and played them for a loooong time . Even though I had Slingerland and Tama drums later . I never forgot those Kents and got another . I am still looking desperately for a 16 " BDP floor tom .. I even have a 4 pc set of champagne sparkle coffin lug in almost new condition on their way to me right now too . You should play yours . All I did to mine was put some bees wax on the bearing edges as mine were nice and smooth already .

Warning ... Avoid member statuscymbal here, vintage_collector on DFO , and americanpatriot10 on eBay. Email me for his name. All are the same shady guy who has burned me and a list of other members on both boards . He is also selling on Facebook too ..

I mean other than Ludwig, Rogers, Slingerland, Gretsch, Camco in the 1960s what other US company was getting it done? I love Kents. They filled their niche admirably.

My first set was a Kent BDP 20",12",14" 6-lug snare. That BDP is bringing back memories...
