Zeta, those are really interesting. Someone sure got in a hurry with a drill, too bad, Id like to drill a hole in their head!Craig, thanks for pointing me out as the wood wiz. Fixing holes in shells like these is a whole different ball game then filling nail holes. I think the use of dowel rods is fine but how do you patch the wrap? I have seen where guys have taken tiny pieces of wrap from under a lug to make a repair but that was on a sparkle wrap. This being maple would really show if you did that. Would it work to get some of the really long club date bass drum lugs and span over all the holes or are the holes to close to the edge? Hmmm, I think you should start a thread in the restoring section, maybe someone will have a good idea. In the meantime, I will try to think of something.Just went back to the op and forgot you mentioned that you have a handful of original lugs. Do you have enough?
Very unfortunate kit, I'm really gad I was able to get them now before another person did more damage.
It real is a pain because some of the holes are close to the edge and some are not, I have a set of 10 marching lugs that probably would cover all of the holes on the kick, but that would require me drilling way to many new holes lol.
I have maybe 10 of the lugs. The guy I got them from says he has a bag of parts for me, If I'm lucky more lugs are in that bag, but I am a little doubtful on that.
I'll copy this over to the restore thread soon, hopefully we can get this kit to its full potential.
