From Purdie Shuffle

Robyn - Use the NOVUS polishes on them! Start with NOVUS #2 and then the polish. They'll come out as good as they can.Congrats, I'm happy for you. Can't wait to see them all set-up with grandma rocking-out behind them!John

Hey John, got some of that pollish ordered, got 1,2,&3 on the way. Shouldnt i start with

#1?

I think most of the scuff n marks will come off but i might have to do that litl trick you did with your black drums. Might need your guidance there.

Those are really nice vintage Ludwigs. I love red sparkle and always wanted some.

Can't wait to see them all cleaned , shiny, and set up. Make lots of pics. Your going to love the sound of those. What heads are you going to use? I use ambassadors on both sides of my vintage Ludwigs.

Here's my second Hollywood kit. 1980. My early 70's kit was burned up in a arson club fire.

robyn - Novus works the other way around; the higher the number, the more course of a cleaner it is. You can start with #3 then, #2 and finally #1-which is the polish.

Grab some old cotton tee-shirt that you can use for rags. Rub in (use a little elbow grease!) the #3 all around. It'll get dry and cloudy as you go. Wipe off with several clean rags, as one gets dirty, grab a clean one and keep going until -all- the #3 has been completely wiped off.

Use another clean rag to apply #2. Do not use the same rag you used for the #3 to apply the #2 cleaner. Start with a fresh, clean cloth. Same deal, rub it in real good, then wipe off. Last, spray on the #1 polish and buff with clean cotton rags until shiny.

Get back to me after the detailing session and I'll do my best to help you deal with the scuffs. I want to see what is left of the marks and scuffs -after- you use the NOVUS #3, #2, #1.

One step at a time... if you have a little $ left, order some 'Cape Cod Cloths.' You're going to give -ALL- the hardware a good once-over with the Cape Cod Cloths. That kit is going to look as good as it possibly can. Just hang with me here and I promise you'll be real happy with the end results. You won't recognize the kit, it'll look 10x's better than it does now.

Robyn,

Congratulations. The color looks like it has hardly faded which is awesome!

Purdie is spot on with his comments about Novus. I find that most of the elbow grease is in the #3 application. That is the compound that will get after the deeper scratches. They should come out looking pretty great. Sparkles are pretty forgiving when it comes to scratches.
