So I ordered a few more samples from Precision and they came right away. Those folks are awesome. Here are a few pictures of various samples against the 13" mounted tom. I would appreciate feedback on what you guys think might look best. (PS: Regarding aging wrap - in my case Silver Sparkle) If BEC thinks a smokey bar is the best way, what's the next best thing when there are no smokey bars around? A super low heat BBQ smoker? Just a reminder: I'm NOT rewrapping the the kit. :) I have an already rewrapped 6.5 x 14, 50's WFL Ray McKinley I'm going to rewrap again to KINDA match this kit.)

I would go with the vintage nickel.

^ what Jerry said.

I think the VNS would look the most like a differently-aged silver sparkle, look cool with the rest of the kit. Any info from precision on availability?

What a great set. Solid as a Mack Truck ! What about the Vintage Silver sparkle from Jammin Sam. I heard it was a good match to the old silver sparkle. I just went through the same thing trying to find a matching SS snare shell for my SS drums. Found a shell in SS I bought. Was a little brighter because it was new wrap but on stage under lights you won't be able to notice really.

Thanks for your feedback guys, and I agree for the record. But that Vintage Nickel Sparkle doesn't seem to be available except for special order at Precision. I haven't seen the Vintage Silver Sparkle from Jammin Sam, I'll check it out, thanks for the nod Vibes! Any second choices? Mine is Silver Sparkle and then just trying to maybe age it somehow, the third choice is..... [protects head from flying drumsticks] Ginger Glitter :D

Just checked and vintage ss is listed as discontinued on the JS site updated 2016. There's definitely something you could mist onto ss to age it. Someone on the forum here mentioned gold spray paint. As long as whatever you use provides a smooth and robust surface....but wow would you ever want to do some tests first!

Picked up some era correct hardware locally for a good price. The stands are in great condition. Does she ever look nice in the front room!

Yep those look magnificent. That's the right snare right there too if you ask me. I will say, height-wise, you're a braver man than I with that L-arm...
