I apologize for jumping in but I just thought that I'd let you know that I paid $8.99 for a 32 ounce bottle.

I've spent most of the day cataloging some of my vintage snares and when I got to this one I continued with my research to make sure that I get it right. Unfortunately, I'm still not convinced that I've accomplished that goal.

First, I want to thank all of you for your input to date. As I've stated repeatedly, I appreciate your time, your help and the information that you've provided. Despite the information I've received to date and the research I've done, I'm still not sure whether this particular drum should be cataloged as a "Ludwig Standard" model or "The Original Ludwig All Metal Drum." Could someone please walk me through the difference between the two models?

From what I was informed (thank you!) and what I researched, the "Standard" model has the word Ludwig engraved on the shell in the panel to the right of the strainer. My particular drum has the words Ludwig Trademark engraved on the shell in the panel to the left of the strainer.

My drum also features the "Professional" strainer (1928-1939), exclusive of the extension arm which I'll be obtaining shortly, as well as what's labeled as Ludwig's first internal muffler (1935-1937).

AGAIN, my goal here is simply to correctly identify the model and approximate date of manufacture for this one. Feel free to have at me (lol)!

OldSchool - It’s not that clear in your photo but the bead looks to me like it might be the 2 piece shell? If so, with what you mention about the logo and its position, I would lean towards the 1928 or so, “All Metal Separate Tension” model type. I think Conn might have changed the shell to a one piece but in 28 if I remember correctly they were just working towards the deal with Ludwig to take over, and had it in 29 sometime.

Does anybody have a photo of their "Standard" model with the logo on the right side they could post. I've seen the catalogue that depicts this, but would like to see a real example. Just my two cents.

I apologize for returning to this "ancient" thread. However, as I was cataloging some of my snare drums this morning I realized that I'm still not sure whether this particular drum is a Ludwig "Standard" or Ludwig "All Metal Tension" Model.

I'm hoping that with the prior information provided and the attached updated pics those of you much wiser than me might be able to help me out.

Thanks in advance for your time and your help!

Every Standard all metal that I`ve seen in the cats. has the inscription to the right of the strainer,...yours has it to the left, like the Super Ludwig. Yours also has the vent hole to the left of the butt end like the Super again. You have a very pronounced snare bed crimpped into that black chrome shell, like a Super Ludwig again. You don`t have the strainer or butt end of the Super Ludwig though and I don`t know if they are interchangeabvle or not or can be ordered that way !!

Either way, it`s a nice drum !!

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Don`t kill yourself try`n, there are too many drums from Ludwig that never saw advertisement in the cats. !! Schools and ochrastrated bands got deals and special orders !!

I see everything you have on the drum in the Ludwig cats though, just not all together like yours !!
