Among the one piece footplate Speed Masters I see some have the spring on the inside of the frame, next to your toe, and some with the spring on the outside of the frame. Which is the older version?

The outside spring models should be painted blue and they should have a two-piece foot board, not a one-piece. However, I know as time goes by, some people mix and match. The blue one is about a year or two older then the red one, but the black WFL twin spring once-piece footboard model precedes both of these. Mike Currotto is selling one of these "hybrids" on ebay as we speak. Its actually a Reversible-Speed pedal with the one-piece Universal Speed pedal foot board. I see more of these pop up on ebay than the true Universal Speed pedals, which are painted red and have the spring on the inside of the frame.
As an aside....does anyone use one of the Ludwig Junior pedals? How is the feel in comparison with the Universal Speedmaster and others? Just curious as I've never owned one before.....
I think I'm becoming a vintage bass pedal junkie, er....collector...yeah thats it! LoLoLoLo
Thought I'd share some pics of my newly restored Ludwig Universal Speedmaster pedal....came out pretty nice I think! :D
New colonial red paint, and a new black strap, other than those two things and the rewelded (and a decent job too!) hinge plate, its all original! Super smooth and fast pedal! I'm really diggin' it! :p
