Hi.Did you ever get this to work?I have a recovered floor tom that sticks out like a sore thumb in the daylight (under lights at night it's not so bad). Someone once suggested putting the drum under UV lights. The kit is a Ludwig silver sparkle set 18 (converted floor), 12, 14 + jazz fest snare. I could get the others recovered or hunt for a new old floor tom - but the drum matches the serials. It was recovered before I bought it.Any ideas?

I believe the newer wraps are more UV resistant than the old stuff (in order to prevent fading). This is a good thing if you have a whole set that matches itself but not so good if you want to fade a newly wrapped drum to match an older set.

All you need is a good dry sunny spot and about 15 - 20 years time!

1958 Gretsch Kit
1966 Kent Kit
1969 Ludwig Standard Kit
1970 Rogers Power Tone Kit
1970's Ludwig Vistalite Kit
1994 Yamaha Maple Custom
2010 Yamaha Maple Custom
28 assorted snares (including some real crap)
and 1 really nice K Zildjian Istanbul

You seem to be aware that it's a Nutty & Asinine project, ...so I'll leave it at that.

I do not believe it is possible.Like a fine vintage wine, nothing can take the place of time.

glad you used the word fine, because they can even artificially age wine these days but ageing in wine is a factor of controlled oxidation, which also is a factor in altering some wraps. that oxidation really couldn't be shortcutted.
