Pearl or sparkle?? Last viewed: 58 seconds ago

I like the old large chip black marine pearl. I also like the old crushed glass sparkles. The other sparkles are lacking, to my eyes.

I prefer sparkle over pearl finishes. I like the sparkle.

Speaking of crushed glass sparkle wraps, I quite like the texture of old Premier glass sparkle. I don't quite know if it's the fact that the plastic material has shrunk or the fact that the wrap maker didn't figure out how to bury the glass in plastic.

I wish someone would make an aged wrap repleat with shrinkage, fading and the like. Maybe make it a teeny bit thinner, I dunno... I know that sounds weird, but then again- those of use trying to match up older drums would like the new wrap not to stick out like a sore thumb.

Yeah- I'm THAT guy!!!

i'm a big fan of odd ball streaky lookin stuff... the luddy bowling ball wraps and the stratas that were available on standards are some of my faves.... and ol' school rogers and slingy mardi gras...

I like the weird swirling wraps of the late sixties and early seventies. Sparkles are great as well. Reds and blues are cool, but my avocado strata... well, it's just grown on me.

I've had more sparkles and glitters than any other finishes. I loved my 1966 Ludwig Super Classic in Oyster Blue. My current kits are:

1966 Rogers Headliner in Blue Glitter

1967 Slingerland 4pc in Silver Sparkle

1971 Ludwig Super Classic in Blue Sparkle

2006 Pearl Export 4pc in custom painted Blue Shimmer...stunning!!

2011 PDP X7 in Red to Black lacquer sparkle. I had the bug for lots of toms!

My girlfriend now wants me to ad a vintage kit in a Pearl, probably WMP!
