Question about Slingerland tom mount Last viewed: 6 hours ago

[QUOTE=kevins;167045]Here's some more pics for you.

You'll notice the down tube can get pretty chewed up from the wing screw if the height is changed a lot.

Best to find the sweet spot, set the memory clip there, and leave it.

The good news is that the damaged side of the tube faces the drummer, so it's visually audience-friendly.

Kevins,

I came upon a guy over there (US), who had fabricated a plate to protect the downtubes, sort of same concept as the tom mount. I made one from thin stainless steel. Hole drilled for the wing screw to pass through and then just formed it to fit , it then hangs inside the mount between the tube and wingscrew. It does work. It's a pity Slingerland didn't do it in the first place, most of those tubes are now pretty chewed up.

Cheers

Man, that sounds like a great idea.... I've tried to use a clip for the tom mount on the bass mount, and it just won't fit.

I have one or two posts only that aren't chewed up ..... I never use them so's to keep them nice, ya know.

You got contact info for the cat that fabricated those?

Thanks!

Kev
