question regarding to my collection Last viewed: 6 hours ago

That Gretsch drum is definitely not a vintage shell. The fact that the wrap is cut away like that indicates that it's a new Gretsch drum. The wrap on the real vintage drums extends right to the edge. The guitar center link shows a Vinyard snare. I have one of those too. Supposedly these drums are made from shells that were 30 years old but never used. So your drum could be one of those too. There's a guy on ebay selling Gretsch shells so maybe you bought the drum from him? I bought an undrilled 5X14 shell on there a little while ago. I think it's legit but you never know.....

In any case I'm sure that your drum sounds great! I hate to think what Gretsch charged you for those lugs though....

I like that COB Slingerland, I'm thinking it should have a Zoomatic strainer on it though.....??

Slingerland made a bunch of brass shell snares simultaneously (same shell I presume) with different strainers. The Slingerland COB with the Zoomatic is the Gene Krupa Sound King. The COB shell snare with the Rapid strainer I think was called the Festival Model. There was also a Radio King version and I think a Super Sound King too.

Recently picked up a Gene Krupa Sound King on the advice of many here on VDF and gotta say you guys know your stuff. Great sounding drum!

as i said, i bought the shell with the badge and lightning strainer and fishtail butt end... i have tried a lot of lugs on it, but nothing wasd fitting these lug holes... so i contact one drum shop who was local dealer of gretsch and they order it for me from gretsch... i had to wait for them almost 4 months... and it was $7 for one lug... and yes it sound great...
