Not a cataloged 8". only 10" and deeper field snare drums.
Radio king marching snare info. needed. HELP! Last viewed: 21 hours ago
Gotcha. Thanks.
So at this point, I'm guessing it's a 10x14.
Does anyone have any pics of a 10x14 cloud badge, split beaver tails, wood hoops w/ matching inlay, in the green pearl finish?
They did do some snares with wood hoops but usually they had a single double ended lug. They definitely did make 8x14's though (and some 8 x 15s) and some had double lugs. I don't see any double lugged drums with wood hoops but certainly someone could have special ordered one (or a pair) that way. Hard to say for sure as Slingerland did a lot of stuff that fell between the catalogs.
Thanks, K.O.
The ones I'm looking at look like the Ray McKinley model, but have split beavertail lugs. Pretty sure they were nickel.
They did split lugs back then too...I just didn't find a split lug model with a wooden hoop in the catalogs I have access to. Certainly it isn't much of a stretch for someone to have wanted a wooden hoop on one of the split lug models and for Slingerland to have delivered such.
Right on. Much appreciated!
Now if I can just one or both for a decent price...
The guy I buy from sometimes over-values his stuff - and now & then, under-values his stuff ; )
Dex very cool find~! Would really like to see pics and hope you can score a deal on them. It's not everyday 2 SGP RK snares come to light. x-mas3
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

I'm supposed to see my "guy" this coming week - I'll be sure to get pix, whether or not I buy them. I just have a feeling he won't let them go for less than $500 for the pair....
However, I'm not even sure they're radio kings.

Hope I did the attachment correctly.
This is from the 1940 catalog. While I sure hope the drums are sea green, there is the possibility they are black diamond pearl that has yellowed and faded to a green-ish color. That is very common. Good luck and I hope they turn out to be sea green.
Thanks, Coopersvintagedrums!
