The fact about Radio Kings is that they sound great even in what some would consider poor shape. You'll be hard pressed to find RKs that are truly in round, and usually the finish is less than pristine. The drums have an amazing dynamic range and could drive a loud big-band with no mics on the drums. To "modernize" a set of RKs is like adding a spoiler to a vintage Buick. They sound good on their own. I'm not a purist and the RK kit I own is not museum quality. but it's my primary gigging kit. They hold up well and record well too.
