From idrum4fun

Hey Mark, Stevo & Harold -

That sucker would be me ... so I'll defend such an overpriced reso head, right: When I write near-flawless it is actually flawless; but I like leaving a tad bit of room for subjective opinion. What the photos do not capture is how t/ head feels as if it has not been tightened down at all. When you normally undress a vintage snare head, top & especially bottom, they'll be quite wrinkly like your .... See one wrinkle?

So, needless to say, this listing is not for everyone. It is for a very slim minority who desire a pristine reso head for his or her 60's kit; say, a Ringo fanatic who has a 4-5k+ kit with all the pretty hardware & just has to have the heads to match for the little drum room shrine he/she beds down in every night.

If that makes me a sucker, then so be it. Whomever buys it will be ecstatic when they get it & it completes whatever snare they have. So, hmm, that makes such a purchase like @ .03% of the value of their kit while at the same time increasing the value of that Ringo baby much more than the cost of this head. But again, I don't know what I'm talking about, or doing, since I'm definitely clueless & evil.

In fact, I think $110 is a bargain. Gut feeling: $150-175 ... where on god's green earth are you going to find this. That's rhetorical.

Suckers I've sold to include B. Blxxx (sorry, I don't name drop; but I think he's happy w/ the pristine '65 BDP CD kit he bought at a, yes, ridiculous sucker price - except, I don't think he feels like a sucker. He's more than likely grateful that it arrived as (or better than!) described & not boxed with a prayer, no extra charge - right?). He's not the only big hitter I've sold my overpriced **** to, either. Although I charge for the extremely high quality sucker vintage **** I carry they know that I back that **** up. That, my friends, is worth the price of admission because I can tell you from much more experience than I care to note that so many ebay a$$holes selling his own vintage **** is doing just that: selling his vintage **** & hoping you don't get ****ed off because he's taking you for a sucker. Sucks when you're that kind of sucker, dunnit? Trust & quality = priceless!

There's also a GIGANTIC difference between most rip-off artist buyers (yeah, buyers!) who've laughingly attempted sweet-talking me out of my often supreme quality vintage gear / cheapskate losers who don't bat an eyelash when lowballing vs serious collectors who know what's what & are willing to pay for it.

So yeah, I'm rarehobbs. If you see some **** there you like, by all means feel free to drop me a line if you really need it. I've done it a few times for members here & I'll be so bold to say that I'd bet that they don't fell like I suckered them. Take a peek @ my feedback & you'll see that a lot of cats do not leave the ebay robo thank you's (they don't hand Top-rated & PowerSeller to everyone!). Just saying.

I think that Hobbs is trying to play us for suckers. Have ya got any bridges or maiden oil for sale in other listings? $110 for an NOS plastic snare drum head is beyond ridiculous. Most old NOS plastic drum heads of any brand that I have owned, when tensioned to a playable setting, will pull out of the metal or plastic "flesh" hoop or crack at the bend on the drum's bearing edge.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

If I had a pristine ringo jazzfest that needed an original reso head to put it into that untouchable "original" ballpark, Id drop a hundo on that thing. Just sayin...

Maybe Im a sucker.

Adam: Chances are that, if you dropped a hundred bucks on the "correct" reso head, the person who bought the drum from you would immediately change both of the heads to those that the new owner thinks are "right" for this drum.

Hobbs

I'm really sorry if I was disrespectful with my post.

I never meant to offend anybody or be aggressive... It was a simple "joke" on that thread. I feel glad to be here at the Forum, learning and exchanging valuables informations and opinions.... and I like it in that way!

On the strictly point of "head pricing", I´ll give my opinion.

First of all, you are the lawful owner of the item, so, you can price it as you want..... this is the "Market Holy rule"!!

Even, your point (about a Holy Grail Snare owner interested on a NOS head) is not fetched at all, as a valid marketing strategy, although, there are another optic here.

Based on the fact that probably the 99,99% here are -in one way or another- on sale/buy/trade vintage drums market, when you see some vintage product in appearance "overpriced" -mostly on flebay- , it's totally normal to expect comments or "criticism", basically because neither of us want to generate "inflation" on our pretty small market!

Just my opinion, and a again my apologies and good luck with your sale

Best regards
