From Heraldo Blasco

HobbsI'm really sorry if I was disrespectful with my post.I never meant to offend anybody or be aggressive... It was a simple "joke" on that thread. I feel glad to be here at the Forum, learning and exchanging valuables informations and opinions.... and I like it in that way!On the strictly point of "head pricing", I´ll give my opinion.First of all, you are the lawful owner of the item, so, you can price it as you want..... this is the "Market Holy rule"!!Even, your point (about a Holy Grail Snare owner interested on a NOS head) is not fetched at all, as a valid marketing strategy, although, there are another optic here.Based on the fact that probably the 99,99% here are -in one way or another- on sale/buy/trade vintage drums market, when you see some vintage product in appearance "overpriced" -mostly on flebay- , it's totally normal to expect comments or "criticism", basically because neither of us want to generate "inflation" on our pretty small market!Just my opinion, and a again my apologies and good luck with your saleBest regards

Hey Harold -

You're completely fine. No need to be politically correct; polite is about it (which you've been). This one has all the ingredients to get impolite real quick. I'm merely defending myself from the sticks getting poked into my cage.

Had to laugh when it popped up last night & realized I've become suddenly infamous!

I think what both sides of the coin need to concede to is that, yes, I wouldn't myself pay that for this head; but some will, because it is in rare form. Simple.

There was a Camco single arm/center post mount for the bass drum including both the bass drum as well as the tom mounts attached to the single arm yesterday on ebay for all of 2 hours from Franks drum circle.

I would have paid 250.00 to 300.00 for it in a milisecond and I am sure some would pay even more since it was in mint condition and close to impossible to find, just to complete their one up kit...(Model #15 complete)

Yes Sir The value of any item is what someone is willing to pay for it; not some price based upon our perceived "market value" or what it should go for. Supply and Demand. If "ya gotta have it", you'll pay whatever it takes to get it into your hands. How else can you explain a simple painting of water lilies by Monet recently selling for $208,000,000?

$110 for a reso head? No way for me, but there's a lot of wealthy rock drummers and vintage drum collectors who spend that on lunch. Best wishes for a successful sale Chris.

Hobbs, didn't mean to offend, sorry if I hit a nerve there.

I was referring to the guy bidding, not the seller, which is you in this case.

Good luck with your auction.

Anyhow, seems 110.00 was a bit off the mark.. She's now 125.00us..

That's around 170.00 au with shipping .. way out of my budget.. but I'm gonna take a look through my used head box.. who knows.

Cheers

i'm a huge fan of original heads. I use them on most of my drums. ive never bought a one that wasn't playable and didn't sound great. I don't gig with those heads but they do get plenty of play time here. people want what they want..or not.

hobbs is a straight up guy. I bought a rare snare from him a while back. saw it on ebay and he helped me off of ebay to be able to buy it. ive had my eye on his 13" playon plastic head for a while.

Don't be too hard on the seller guys.

Rare and perfect do command a price.

Lots of stuff on ebay is over priced or expensive for whatever reason.

ie:anyone notice what vintage Sonor slotted tension rods are goin for these days?

Wow! I had no idea when I posted this thread that it would get so much attention! I just wanted to see if the price was in-line with reality!

I'm sure this head might appeal to those with the funds for it. My question is that, with Ludwig's heads available today looking so much like this offering, does it make sense to have a 60's NOS? I guess some would argue that it does!

The price has gone up to $125, but no one has pulled the trigger yet. I'll be interested to see what happens!
