Could this be Sonor? I want to say Sonor or other European strainer. I'm not too sure. Hopefully somebody can chime in soon. I'd like to know too.

Assuming the strainer and lugs are original to the drum, I would say it is later than `30s.

The lugs look `50s -`60s.

I don't know what it is, but it looks `60s European to me.

Do you have any photos of the lug screws and other internal hardware?

Sonor made a very similar throw and hoops, but it is not Sonor, they didn't make that lug.

Lugs look almost like Rogers B&B lugs. Not sure if they made them with the bead cutout. But they have the look. Gary or one of the early Rogers guys might know. Cool looking snare. Hope you get to the bottom of things.

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

thanks for all the responses

here's a few more pictures:

-the hardware tray when i had the parts off before cleaning showing the BnB-type lugs and leather washers

-inside shot of shell, which has rolled-over edges and may actually be nickle-over-brass (same as hoops)

-the shape of the snare guards on the rims

... off to google me some Tromsa!

Definitely a brass shell. Have you tested it with a magnet? I bet the magnet won't stick. Try the magnet test on the hoops too. I'm guessing they're brass too. Nice drum! I think the general consensus is Germany made - Sonor, Tromsa, Deri, Trixon or other. The shell is probably metric size (35cm) just shy of 14". Get the tape measure and fridge magnet out. :)

definitely brass shell and hoops... non-magnetic

thinking it might be more late 50s than 30s, but haven't seen any photos of non-offset snare lugs on Tromsas... yet

found this good site, 'tho
