I would check with "Ryan vonR" on here if they end up having to send it out of state. He has posted some of his work and it looks very nice!Good luck!

Thank you for the nice words EC... I would have the owner tune up and play the drums first. they might be all he has ever wanted in a kit. I understand that recut edges are always looked upon as second to original, but if this is going to be staying in the family and he wants them to sound as good as they can, re-cutting just enough to bring them into true might be just the thing. I am interested in hearing what the owner ends up thinking about them. It isn't very often you will find a perfectly true vintage drum, a true edge can make a big difference.

I guess I never really thought about this. Always knew that rewrapping a kit will lower the value but never thought about cutting new edges. I suppose thats because I have never really need to do it that much. Which brings me to the question, should I re-cut the edges on my Kent drum kit. I know Kents are not nearly as valuable or sought after as these Ludwigs are, but they are over 50 years old. Good thread here, got me thinking.

Thank you!

Hi Jeff!

You should go into that as a side biz... really no fooling. That and the coffin biz that was discussed in another thread:
