Rogers 6.5" Dynasonic price? Last viewed: 20 minutes ago

Loading...

Hey, first post here. I've been trying to find myself a few "vintage" and "classic" snare drums to add to my kit. I've always wanted a Dynasonic and i may have found one. Its a 6.5" with the oval or round badge, 5 line, and its complete with all the original parts and in very good to excellent shape. I don't have the serial number yet (just waiting for an email) but he thinks its from 69 or 70. I'm having trouble finding a fair price on one of these. It seems like prices are all over the place and 6.5s are harder to nail down. Any help would be appreciated.

If it helps, the price he wants is $750 Canadian. so about $600 US.

Serial number doesn't matter. If the drum is as stated...very good to excellent... you might want to pay sooner rather than later. 6.5 Dyna-Sonics are hot. And the prices have been up to 250 more than you were quoted. So... yea. Buy it.

Thats pretty much what i figured and i told the guy i would take it. Unfortunately i haven't heard back now in a few hours and i'm starting to think it may have already sold to someone else. Worst part is that i live about 5 hours from where the guy is located so i can't just hop over and take a look. I do have a friend that lives pretty close and is willing to go take a look, but he has no idea what to look for.

Thanks for the help, hopefully i still manage to make the deal!

Is that just the 6.5's? I had a "normal" 7 liner (64) in really good shape and couldn't get $400 a couple years ago. Finally sold it for $600 overseas....

Just curious how the prices are as of late.

So the serial # is 21728. The seller says he bought the drum new in 1971 and its been sitting unplayed for a really long time. He says it even still has the original Rogers heads. I added a few pics he sent. Hopefully someone here can tell me if this look legit so far.

My friend is going to check it out tonight. Anything in particular i should be getting him to check out? Should i get him to take a magnet along to check the shell and hoops? I'm pretty new to these older drums as well, but my friend has no idea at all.

I appreciate the offer Kelly but I'm on the other side of the country from you.

Apparently the drum is on hold for me till I can at least have my friend stop by and look. From the research I've done and what you guys have said, the drum seems to be legit so even if it's not in perfect shape I won't be loosing my butt over it. If everything works out I'll be sure to post up pics once I have it.

I'll get my buddy to check the shell with a magnet, but I'm not sure about the hoops. Did the dynasonics have brass hoops or steel?

From those three pics. There is nothing worth seeing you have not seen. Unless something is broken and he is not disclosing. But from what I can see by looking at the pictures......... your buddy should just buy it and not dilly dally.

If Ploughman says "buy it", no more needs to be said! Those few pictures show a Dyna that has been well cared for. Everything appears original and in great condition. I paid $480 for my 1966 7-line 5x14 back in 2011. It was all original, except for heads, and in VG+ condition. It's probably appreciated a bit since then. 6.5" Dynasonics, due to not as many being sold, command even more!
