Rogers 6.5" Dynasonic price? Last viewed: 53 seconds ago

Retoxtony:

Just for reference, there's a "mint condition" 6.5 Dyna on eBay right now (Item 281986385551), and the bidding is up to $580 (U.S) with still a day to go. While you can get a nice 5" Dyna with snare frame for about $350, the 6.5's are a bit more difficult to find in very good, original condition, and when you find one, expect to pay premium price.

The one you pictured looks very nice and all original. The problem with many used Dyna's listed for sale is that they are missing the snare frame, which is critical to the Dyna performing properly. Good luck scoring this one, and refer back here to this site for instructions on proper setup and tuning.

Mike

Pic of my near-mint, all-original 6.5 Dyna. I'll argue that this is one of the top 10 U.S. snares ever manufactured.

I would second that notion, only move it into the top five. Having sold more, recorded more, been used by more, does not make that other one better. It just means there were so damn many of them made you couldn't walk across a stage without tripping over one.

Well it turns out that it's not quite perfect after all. Right under the Rogers script he was nice enough to to engrave his drivers license number into it. Not sure what to say. I'm assuming this kills the value on it.

And he won't bend on the price at all. Still wants $750 Canadian.

Yup, I should have known it was too good to be true. So how much is actually worth with that personal touch added in? Still worth buying?

While I'm not the expert here, I feel there is still value to this Dyna, simply based on the clean overall condition. It's just not worth what the seller is asking. He may not see it this way, but having his personal ID etched into the shell devalues the entire drum. Just not sure how much.

About half. This is a drum that would get stripped and parts sold piecemeal on ebay. Shell is toast.

So, the drum doesn't care about the etching. the sound doesn't care about the etching. It is the same drum it would have been... except for value.

I was pretty peaved about the engraving, especially because he didnt mention it at all even when i specifically asked about any imperfections. Its really too bad i had to get my friend to drive 45 minutes so i could learn about that. I did offer to buy it at a lower price but he said absolutely not. I might give him a few days and see if he will reconsider.

I really just can't understand why someone would think it was a good idea to do that on the drum. He also seems to have picked the worst possible place to do it, right under the Rogers badge.
