Rogers Buddy Rich Drums Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Swivomatic mounts for toms and even the snare drum could be configured to the wishes of the drummer. I ordered this Rogers Holiday outfit in 1961. This was during my senior year of high school. The drum set was my graduation present. I ordered the drum set from Foster Music in Hammond, Indiana (my home town). From the most current catalog, I decided that I wanted a four piece drum set with 14x20 bass drum, 8x12 mounted tom, 16x16 floor tom, and a matching Holiday 5x14 snare drum. I wanted the snare drum and the small tom mounted on the drummer's left and a disappearing cymbal arm on the right side. I had the configuration planted in my brain for a long time. What took me the longest to decide was what color I wanted. Every drummer I knew who was less then 40 years old had some sparkle color. The "old guys" all had Marine Pearl or Champagne Pearl. So, I decided to get Black Diamond Pearl. The snare and small tom were almost in a straight line with each other which moved the tom to about the middle of the shell at the drummer's 10:30 position. If I've ever had any regret about not keeping a drum set, it would be for this one. But, I traded drum sets every couple of years back then, and never had more than one set at any time.

JR!Powertone is correct on a few counts ... as are the other comments for that matter! I DO indeed have a 1965 (Cleveland) Rogers Buddy Rich Celebrity set, and with the 14X24 bass drum. I have posted many pics here over the years! That said, as mentioned prior, that mount was added after the fact, and I suspect the reason was, based on the type of mount it is and where it's located ... the original owner did not care for the factory tom mount location! Many guys didn't actually. Note that the original mount is pretty far over to the left and BACK pretty far towards the batter side hoop. By "today's" standards, that is a very uncomfortable spot for the rack tom .. but .. that was where Rogers placed it. Actually, I have found that there are a couple locations for the tom mount from the factory, but don't know what exactly determined where they would put it. That said ...... nice drums!, and knowing you, you will use a snare stand for your rack tom anyway! Here are a few pics of mine!Tommyp

How can it be a Buddy kit with one floor tom ? That`s like a Ringo kit with Three toms.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

True...but...the Rogers BR Celebrity catalogued kit showed only one floor tom. That's how I originally ordered my Celebrity in 1972. When I finally did get my second floor tom, which you can barely see in my previous picture, it was from Al Blaemire. I wanted to try his fiberglass shell!

Was the Blaemire shell tom a better towel and drink holder than the Rogers tom shell?
