Just bought this Snare drum from ebay. Looks different from usual. Need help to identify the particular model. Also no name badge. As you can all see it needs a good clean. Have a look at the pics. One last note ive never seen hoops as deep. Also think it is 5"......Thx....sean....
Rogers Dynasonic COB Snare Drum Need Help To Identify Last viewed: 0 seconds ago
Couple more pics of this snare drum.
How much you want for it?
It is English. Rogers Dyna-Sonic. Not the USA model. This is built in England. 60s. Serial number in inside. No paper tag, no serial on the oval, and no grommet either. I would be interested.

Hi.....Thanks for the info. Apart from the badge being missing it looks complete. Im picking it up thursday evening, basically clean it up then put it back on ebay. Ive only just found out there is a web site in the UK dedicated to the English Rogers. It is www.englishrogersdrums.co.uk. I know the USA is the real deal, would you say this version is highly collectable. Dont see lots if any coming up maybe on a rare occasion. Make me an offer. One last note once ive got the snare drum i will give it a full check as the guy selling it didnt give a great description which is great for me as a buyer............Thanks...sean
Hi Everyone.....I have now picked the snare drum up. The verdict is that the condition is miles better than the pics can show. Obviously the drum is now stripped down and will go through my cleaning process. I guarantee one great rare looking piece of history will emerge soon......Thx.seanband3

Had a look inside shell its very clean and polished. There is no serial number at all. Probably someone decided to buff it away but crikey the inside looks better than most USA dynas ive had.....Thx....sean
Yes, English dynasonic. I have one and it is the best playing dyna I own. It seems to have more "body" and tone. The beavertail version usually has tall hoops and a first generation snare frame. Yours appears to have the first gen. frame. Most seem to be missing the script badge. The badge was held on by pins which tended to break.
The oval badge is the first gen. oval badge without a serial number or a grommet. The snare gates have the first generation single twist. It almost appears that Rogers may have provided some first generation dyna parts (hoops, snare frames and strainers) and I have heard that other parts were manufactured in England.
BTW, mine does not have a serial number inside.
Enjoy and let us know how you think it plays.
Thanks for the info. When i picked it up i gave it a blast. Yeah i agree what a sound. The badge apparently has long gone. For now ive ordered a USA decal script badge that looks great and sticks on to shell. I know it aint original but it sort of compliments the drum. I cant believe the amount of famous drummers that endorsed the english rogers plus even played them without endorsing. Once the drum is fully cleaned up i will post pics. I wont be keeping the drum as i buy to sell. Not sure how rare these are these days. The wires are 20 strand plus the frame is absolutely in top condition.....Ill post in a few more days......sean
You should sell it to The Ploughman!! By doing that, you will save the ebay fees...
Cheers

Another little question..On the strainer it has a capital "D" does that mean any thing. Also the last owner told me he cleaned the drum up inside and out over the years and never seen any serial numbers on the inside. Selling the drum is gonna be tricky, if it was just the USA version which are every where to be had i know exactly what figure i want. From what ive heard the english version is a very rare snare drum. Thx sean
