Rogers Dynasonic wood snare Last viewed: 26 minutes ago

2711 isnt that far off. It could well be a genuine beavertail drum. 2811 is a genuine beavertail COB Dynasonic. I have it. There are higher numbers that are genuine B&B drums. I have seen some. Transition overlap or mixed up badges in the badge tray? Who cares? Probably both, they built drums and back then, no one was anal about what number was on what drum.

It is a 1963 drum. It is beautiful. And even if it has the B&B changed to Beavertails, it is still a pretty drum. I would play it.

I think you guys are right about the snare being originally a BB as the holes are mis -shapen, [ see photo]

I have also provided pictures of the interior shell and the slotted tension screw.

Would the holes have been re drilled at the factory or here in N.Z?

Hi Kiwi Ham, I'm also from NZ (Auckland) where about are you?

I've had a few Rogers B&B drums and about half were converted to

the later beavertail lugs. I had a Mardi Gras finish holiday snare a

couple of years back which had a couple of lugs changed out to different

types i'm thinking these were done in NZ by previous owners and not a

factory job. Please post pics of your full kit when you get a chance...

In pic #1 you can see the shadow of a smaller washer inside the shadow of the larger washer. That with the misshapen holes, is a definitive answer to the question. This was originally a B&B drum.

Knowing that........... it will hold more value in your world than in the US. However......... it will still sound the same as an untouched original Beavertail. Do not let this beautiful drum be lesser in your mind and heart than it has always been. Besides, you have a long history with the drum, and the conversion is vintage.......... not modern. Personally, I do not see as much impact on the value, given this vintage. Perhaps maybe 40 % less than an untouched drum. The conversion is almost as vintage as the drum.

Thanks very much Ploughman. You picked the possibility that it could be a BB straight away. It doesn`t matter to me that it has been altered and I have used it over many years and it still sounds great.

I never noticed the holes until you drew my attention to them. Your knowledge of these drums is incredible. I will check on the toms and bass drum now!!

Great that you have the original bridge.

Enjoy your beautiful and rare drum. I imagine there was a number of early wood Dynasonics converted to the beaver tails due to the breakage of the B&B's.

There was a wood Dyna on Ebay last week that had been converted to Ludwig "Standard" lugs. Your conversion is much more "in character" and original.

Hi Supraphonic. I am from Christchurch which is still, "Shakin` All Over". Yeah it is a pity that alterations were made, even back in the sixties.

I will try and provide a pic. of my set. The snare is out of view but it is the one shown on previous posts.

Actually its not the original bridge {repop} but works just the same. I love the color. I think it may have started its life as a 20/13/16 then someone added an extra 13 and 14fl and Dyna. Top hats that were born together usually had logos placed on the opposite side of the right side drum. If you need help with ID'ing the other drums I think we could help {need serials} not that it matters. Some people are sticklers about this kind of stuff {collectors ect} and now you know. But your playing them right and thats what your suppose to do with em.. As PM said, play them. I'll bet they sound great. Nice tubs!!
