Mike/Dan!Might I chime in here? Regarding the Rogers OEM single rack tom mount position:Certainly valid points Dan/Mike!, but... after around 1975 I had all contemporary setups too, and with the more modern approach to mounting rack toms, ie: more centrally located on the bass drum. Then, the vintage bug bit... and badly at that... not that I'm complainin' of course! Anyway, I wanted the complete experience of the "vintage vibe", so I play all my BR sets with the mounts as they were originally. I play match grip 85% of the time, with my point being: All I do is sit at a slight angle to the right.. and I mean very slight .. but just enough where the rack tom is still in perfect position, even with match grip. In the 3rd pic you can see the throne just over slightly to the right... just a taste. Dan is also correct in that after a bit, it becomes your norm, and there aren't any problems anyway! In my case, ALL my sets are BR models/configurations, and again, I wanted to leave everything as it was... for the total experience/vibe. As always, this is a completely subjective discussion!, and there is no right or wrong. I'm just sayin' you CAN keep everything at it was, and still be comfortable, if that's what you want! Here are a couple/few pics that show my set in the "as is" Buddy configuration.Tommyp

Tommy,

Makes me wish I didn't get rid of my Celebrity kit. Always more drums out there though. I think the next one I get will be WMP just like yours. Super classy drums and some of my favorite sizes.

Cool! I think I am meeting to buy it tonight! I'll let you all know if I don't grab it so someone else can.

Thanks!

bpo,

Good luck! Looks like a beautiful, complete set at a fair price. As Manny mentioned, make sure the tone controls are all in place and check out that repair to the wrap. Keep us posted.

I agree with the other guys who said to jump on this set. If you don't want the snare, offer $800. If you want the snare, offer $900. But, be fully prepared to hand over $1,000 after only a minute of negotiating.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

From OddBall

You shimmed up your HH with a sheet of paper ?

Yeah, cuz... well, the HH stand is like real wobbly, and, er... Oddball, you kill me! Truth be told, that's the show set list.. and .. it's under the HH leg as there are/were fans blowing across the stage for cooling purposes, and you can guess the rest. Now... you might ask: WHY NOT just place the set list on the music stand? And the reason is:

It's a reading/charted gig, thus I need to have room to open up the chart should "Frank" want to replace something on the set list with something else, and I have to scramble through the book and put up what he has called, and like that. And there you have it!

Manny!

So true!! There are more drums out there!! A mid 60's Rogers Buddy Rich Celebrity in these sizes:

14X24

9X13

16X16

16X16

5X14 WMP Dynasonic... aren't that easy to come by today though, especially so in WMP. I have seen them in different wraps too though, but almost always with a 14X22 bass drum. Truth be told, this set originally had a 14X22. I searched like FOREVER and finally found a Cleveland era 14x24 in the BR Celebrity lay out... and now, the set is correct/complete. Buddy would approve! THANKS for the comments!!

I bought it for $900. It did at some point have some extra holes in the kick (two really small ones that I can see), and a couple inch size spots where the wrap was repaired. The holes have been professionally repaired and filled, and I swear you gotta look real hard for it both inside and out. Cleaning them off now, and they are looking great! Thanks for all the help! I hope $900 is still not a bad deal. Thoughts?

Sell off the bits you don't want and so long as your happy its a great deal. Fwiw I paid $900 for my celebrity with lots of wrap cracks but no extra holes. I say enjoy the kit and play it. Little imperfections are character.

+1 to Manny`s post above-i have imperfections in mine too, but each battle scar tells a story in the life of the drum. Now if they could only talk we`d know the absolute truth...So enjoy them in their original state with wrap issues and all-i know i love mine- warts and all.

Thanks for all of the input!

Considering picking up this one if I can get the right deal. What's a good price? What's too much? I love the finish, but don't want to overpay. Is there anything I should look out for with this kit?
