Rogers Tower Drums? Cleveland Era. Roger guys help! Last viewed: 39 seconds ago

Ok, I thought you may be able to tell with the 3rd pic where you can see part of the square mount plate on the inside of the tom. I will get some shots of inside the bass and see if there are extra holes.

Only bad thing, when whoever did this to the drums, they mounted the Rogers badges with long finishing nails, and then bent them over inside the drum. On the snare, it went through the badge and ripped it off a bit...grrr....

Can you remove the mount?

Nails...How long?

These should be small ......... and bent over.

This pic shows both the nails bent over, dead center of the pic. And how a Rogers Swivomatic mount looks like from the inside.

Here are the other pictures of inside the tom, inside the bass, etc.

Mount looks like it could come off, and it looks old, so I assume it's correct?

The nails stick through about 1/2 inch. Hard to see.

Thanks,

Kevin

Without taking it off....

It does look real original.

Are the heads of the nails flat, depressed, or slightly rounded?

Ok, it hooks on with a 'thumb' shape. The swiv-o-matic is different right? I didn't see a picture in a catalog using this style mount, that's why I asked.

I guess all in all, it isn't nearly as roached as I thought it was!

And, are these tough to find? There don't seem to be a lot out there.

Well, you are right. It isnt in the catalog.

Which means (barring you find extra holes under that diamond plate) you have a custom ordered drumset. Someone specifically requested that mount set up just exactly that way.

And that....... would be worth doing some additional research on, if you can know the history of the drums.

That really looks like a great restoration project. Make sure you play them for a moment first. I would love to hear a sound file of a single headed hydraulic head with felt strips, especially on the snare. All the tonality of a side of beef.

I'll look forward to see what happens with these!

I'll take the plate off tomorrow to see what I find. Keep you posted.

The only history I have on them, is that this 15 year old girl's dad bought them from an older man for $50, as he just wanted them out the house. I don't know if he bought them, made the paint changes years ago, and passed them on recently...or if he bought them like they are currently.

May be worth making a phone call to the girl again.

I did see that there was an option for straight legs or the flared out legs for the floor tom, and this one has the flare. There was also a Rogers swan leg style snare stand, a same era Slingerland flat hi hat stand, and a strap drive Premier pedal that I haven't dated yet.

Hey Ploughman (or anyone else who would like to input)

I was going to strip the black paint off and then recover the shells. Obviously they will need a new color or wrap- but someone told me I may not want to strip the black paint off.

I assumed I should- but your thoughts?

Kevin
