That's a lucky find Mitch. Exactly what you wanted. I like the tom, cymbal and cowbell mount too very cool. So happy you were able to score your dream kit. I dig the snare drum too. I forget the details but it's a old Ludwig yes? Interesting setup on the hi hats too. Whatchyagot going on there? Looks like it has a ton of different effects. Congrats again and enjoy them lots! :)

Thanks guys! Gar I might just borrow that thing from you if we can make that happen, can't really see exactly what's in the picture but I imagine you need just the right angle of pressure to make the lip tighten straight down...

Glenn that snare is a permanent loan from a highschool friend - good because I can never sell, it was his great uncle's snare, came with the 25" BD I cut down to 22" so I could keep it in use. The 22" with the Club Date toms will be my "rock kit". :)

The hihat features a ching-ring I made from half a 400' 16mm film reel, drilled holes at each intersection of radial arm and circumference, added small screws locked at the top and bottom [two nuts opposing]....it's how they make the new ones but much cheaper. :) Also on there are some sleigh bells and three finger bells. The finger bells swing around and look cool and if I can hit one at the right time it's pretty neat. If I miss nobody notices lol.

There's a lot of 4-on-the-floor kick for this project, so I wanted to add the hihat on "and", for a sort of samba ostinado. With the snare on 2 and 4 it makes some pretty sweet grooves...and if it's slow enough I actually do the real samba ostinado...heh.

Thanks again to all for all the good words, I really couldn't be happier with this kit.

That's genius Mitch. I really like things that that. So unique and cool sounding too. Sleigh bells remind me of old Herb Albert TJB tunes. They add a nice layer of sound. That snare is a real treasure. Even more special it's from a friend. Thx for the info.
