Slingderland Tempo King pedal parts Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Does anybody have an idea if it's possible to locate a replacement strap post (where the strap crosses the front of the pedal). I remember it being similar to a wrist watch strap post. Most of the pedals I see for sale on line are missing that, just like mine. If not, I have an idea to fashion my own.

Thanks,

Dennis

Strap post? Do you mean just the leather strap itself? If so, vm2K gave you the correct eBay item number. I purchased some of these not long ago. However, I didn't use them as I found them just too thick and stiff.

Maybe you can find a shoe repair shop that will make one up for you.

If It's just the strap, Then a Gibraltar Kevlar strap is easily modified... But I'm thinking that it's the pin at the tip of footboard that you are wanting?? ... If so, just a rivet will do the job..

Cheers

Thank you very much!

Ooops. Just searched ebay with that number and it showed a strap. I'm looking for the pin the strap rests against at the front of the pedal, much like the pin that holds a leather strap to a wristwatch.

If we are talking about that pin, Slingerland never used one. There are two different footboards and I've seen both on bass drum pedals and hi hat stands; while one looks to be made for a pin to go through, a pin was never used on the bass drum pedal. I've seen it with a pin when used for the Dynamo hi hat. It would be nice if new member "tuence" could be more specific and possibly post a picture.

I know the pin you're talking about, I bought a roll pin the right size from a hardware store and it did the job. Mind you I never knew there was never a pin installed in the pedal originally, just thought hmmm, here's a hole looks like it should have something in it. Cool Dude

There appears to be a lack of understanding here. The leather strap does NOT rest against any type of pin or rivet. While those holes are on certain footboard castings, they were never designed to use a pin for the 938 Tempo King pedal. I'm currently looking at two footboards in my Slingerland parts box right now. One pedal with the elongated fingers, each with a hole for a pin to pass through, and another footboard with no fingers or holes. Both are part number 803-10. The footboard with the holes was brought out for the Dynamo hi hat and had a pin going through it to hold the metal link to connect to the pull rod of the hi hat. This same footboard was also used on the 938 Tempo King, but without incorporating a pin. I hope this clears things up!
