Tommyp!A beautiful set of Slingerland's! Thanks for sharing!Mark

Hey Mark!

THANKS!... glad you liked! After seeing this thread, I couldn't believe I have had those for 10 years already. Back then, I decided to "down size" the set, but keep it in the BR configuration, figuring they would be easier to play smaller venues with. In retrospect, I should have probably had them built in the standard BR sizes. Still, they DO sound excellent. These are the sizes:

14X22

8X12

14X14

16X16

5X14 CUSTOM RK solid shell

The Nashville made Gibson Slingerlands are often thought to be the highest quality drums ever to wear the brand. After the move to Arkansas the quality dipped a bit but generally they were also very nice drums. Gibson did offer some imported Slingerland drums through a web site called Music Yo. Those weren't in the same league obviously although not bad for the money (they were pretty cheap).

Hi guys;

Thanks for the info!

Tommy: That kit is glorious! But why would I think it was a BR kit clone? (big grin) Also, thanks for the end date info... yeah, wikipedia normally runs at around 60% or so correct I've heard. No problem though, I'm just happy to glean a bit more information.

Prudie (John): In my other hobby, ham radio, I like old tube stuff... it's heavy, but works! (And I can repair it without thousands of dollars worth of specialized test equipment). I would have agreed with you 100% about younger folks not wanting the vintage stuff. I was wrong. I've noticed more kids appreciate both old tube type radio gear, and vintage drums. Yep, we are certainly a niche, but I like it, and so do they it seems. Once folks our age stop playing or sell our 'stuff' there will be a glut of it, and the niche notch may narrow.

longjohn: Thanks for the links to the interview. That is an interesting read.
