Some of the Music -Yo import snares are pretty decent.I know the copper shelled sound king has somewhat of a legendary status among owners. They seem to be decent player drums.

Here's a pic of a 6.5 Sling-Yo copper shell snare I recently gave to a friend. I reworked the Zoomatic, replaced the heads and snare butt with a "real" Slingerland part. Paid $100.00 for it in new unplayed condition.

Thanks for all the responses guys. So it would appear that I did in fact overpay for this one, but it is a nice drum overall and it does sound quite good. Live and learn, I guess.

ive done this before. as long as you keep it and don't resell it, you won't get hurt on it. if you like the way it looks and plays, youre ahead of the game!

Heck, I wouldn't kick one off the stand. I think those are some pretty neato sounding snares ... I reeeeeealy try to avoid looking at price tags when I'm shopping for sounds ... drums and cymbals. Doing that has allowed me to nail some slick Dreams and entry level chinas that absolutely slam ... not to mention all the snares and student drums and such that sound great on gigs. Good stuff. Good stuff.

Don't worry about overpaying ... shoot, think of all those poor individuals that paid two grand for a simple Rogers 14 floor tom just a couple of years ago ... now you can get the entire kit with matching snare for 1500. The examples are endless.
