G'day Guys,

I bought this today off ebay...An impulse buy..

Do you reckon I've done a fair deal at 91.00 US.. ?

I won't get my hands on it for a couple of weeks..

Can't quite read the serial number but it looks to be late 70's.. any comments welcome

Looks like you've landed a very nice Festival Model, that appears to be in great condition! These were more in Slingy's Student line, but the drums actually sound really good. They're a Chrome over Steel Shell that has a really funky seam, but as stated, the drum sounds really good. As far as what you paid, I've seen them go lower and seen them go higher, meaning, if you're happy it's money well spent! The catalog price for the 8 lug model in 1973 was $85 US...$6 extra for a nice vintage snare getting close to 40 years old isn't bad my friend!

Thanks Fungus..

That's reassuring..I knew someone would give me a clue.. these long distance purchases can be a bit confronting and I only spotted the auction minutes before it went off... no time for any research in this case.

I am really on the look out for a 70's 6 1/2 Slingerland COB in half decent condition to go with the "Thunder Down Under" outfit. Don't mind having to do some work on it though..

thats the fun of it..

Cheers,

John

Check the serial number on that badge.Up untill 72 Festival model drums had brass shells,so for about 2 years they were made with the black and silver niles badge,so you may have a brass drum.More than likely though its probably steel, but thet still sound pretty good.
