The snare arrived today, a week or so earlier than I expected,
I actually think it is even better condition than the pic. It did not slip past a magnet so it's a steel shell # 565735, have not touched it with a key yet, It's tuned high and is true at all batter lugs. Rim shots are like a machine gun. I'd forgotten just how good these rims are.. Totally happy to now own this little treasure. You Guys were right...It sounds great...
Also found a stunning 6.5" Sound King 10 lug COB with Zoomatic, yesterday, looks in as good condition as the Festival.. I'll post a pic in a few weeks when it hits the shores of OZ..
Cheers.

There's a good reason Slingerland sold so many Sound Kings & Festival model snares...they sound GREAT! I've got 3 SK & 1 Festival and love them all! You're spot on about the Slingy rims, there's just something about the combination of elements in these drums that is unique. There's a U.S. company that is making a new hoop called the S-Hoop, it is a triple flanged hoop that is light, but has the rigidity & tuning of a die cast hoop. I mention these because they have borrowed the inward flange from the Slingy hoop. I have used these on several of my custom snares & love them!...going to outfit my personal Walnut Stave kit with these as soon as I complete the d@mn Tung Oil finish!
You're REALLY going to love the 6.5"...it is a beast! Post some pics of these lovely sisters when you get them!

Thanks Dan,
I took a look at the S-hoop site, Looks good, no question where the design stemmed from. I'll keep them in mind , I have a 10 lug 6.5", '84 Tama Rosewood, die cast hoops, could be an interesting option to try on it down the track. But for now I'm gonna have some fun with these sticksavers..
Cheers
John
