Notice the throw is the same as a Beverley cosmic 21which I have actually. Here's some more pics of the interior. Been looking into it a bit more myself too and it could be a festival which has been plundered for hoops and badge. Apparently they never had zoomatic throws and we're considered a lesser snare than the more collectable radio king. As I said sounds great though and really sensitive

From these pics I would say you are correct... Festival shell (and muffler). Must say though that I have only ever seen Hex Head mounting screws on those lugs..

Cheers

Cheers for the response. Well, we could be looking at replacement lugs too? Can't think why though - they're certainly Slingy. Maybe the ones off this originally were in absolutely great condition and the ones I now have deemed not as good? In any case, I'm pretty sure the shell's original and as I said, I'm very happy with the sound!

Yes they are a great little snare...a firecracker... Mine is in a display cabinet, have not played it for a while... Might haul it back into the rotation...

Cheers

Festival COS is a fine drum. Rim shots like a rifle. I wouldn't worry any about the mods. Sounds good to you all that matters.

Nothing special here but I like them.

I recently bought a snare that had that strainer on it. It was obviously not the stock one that came with the drum, so I had to research it.

My research concluded that that strainer was made by Rogers in the (I think 50s) and is called the..... ah hell - just read this thread!

http://www.drumforum.org/index.php?/topic/128342-strainer-id-4-point/

Big thanks to Grandpacleve over there at DFO for the catalog pic.

Then there is that MIJ connection - which begs the question....did Star and/or Pearl buy them from Rogers??

BTW - what appears to be a bolt that seems to be right in the middle of the strainer - suggests some kind of improvised rig, but indeed it is stock.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Thanks again guys for the wisdom and interesting history! Think this baaby may come in handy for a recording project in the not too distant future. Would be nice to reunite it with some original slingy hoops but not in a rush.
