Does anyone know when Modern Bass Drum Legs started being used? What company was the first to change?

If you mean the fold away extendable legs, then Pearl were using those way back in 1970.

Slingerland telescopic legs remained up until the end of US production. Probable reason is that they worked well with that forward angle & they were simple and less costly. (IMO looked elegant too).

Question for someone.. I notice on the inside BD pic, that the grommet is short of the shell thickness. Did Slingerland ever use longer badge grommets for the thicker ply shells??

I bought a few sets from a guy that was selling his collection. The White Tigers came with an older 22" Bass(also White Tiger), that needs work. The other Slinglands are a 60's Red Tiger that needs some cleaning(but very nice)and another early 60's kit in Blue Agate that has redrills and needs work. The blue one has 2 Virgin Bass Drums and a nice double tom stand. He has a Yellow Tiger, but it is rough. The Floor Tom is from a different set and has no hardware. I still wanted it, but could not make it happen...yet.

That looks like a set I had once. It was indeed put together with correct hardware on those "newly discovered in the 90s white tiger shells in various conditions.I had a 20" shell without rerings. Had Jack Lawton drill it for lugs, modern spurs and drilled for a badge. Also had a 14" FT and a small tom. Thought there was a 10" too. I'm pretty sure the OP's set is my old set or one from that batch. It was a great gigging set but not authentic.

So, are you saying not authentic Slingerlands, or not really late 70's Slingerlands?
