Slingerlands at the Gig Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Here are some pictures of my Slingerland kit at Auggies Barbed Wire Smokehouse on Sunday afternoon. This was the second time we played there and we had a great time. The crowd was very responsive and made us feel like rock stars, the food is not too bad either.

Looks are there for sure. And they fit nice in the woods. The question is, what did you make of the sound of the kit as compared to the others you've played out on lately?

I make one suggestion - get a set of later model legs for that floor tom that haveth wider stance. Those light Slingerland 14x14's go over really easily on the straight legs. Then, the next thing you know you have a gouge in the wrap. Set the vintage ones where you'll remember where you put them though!

Thanks, I love this kit! It took me a little time to get use to playing a smaller set up, I had been using a 13,16,22, but I got these babies tuned nice and the smaller sizes make positioning easier. Not to mention transporting.

I'm not sure what it is, but this is one of the best sounding kits I've owned. It tunes up nice either high or low, but I prefer this particular kit closer to the high range. They project like crazy and have a nice feel to them.

I haven't had any problems with the legs so far, but I'll look into getting studier ones.

My former "babies" look very nice in that rustic setting. Playing them in a four piece configuration is a lot of fun.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

I normally use the tom on a snare stand, but there was very little room where I was set up, so I decided to use the tom arm. Those set-o-matic tom arms are great, better than the Rogers swivel-o-matic. Stays put and is easy to adjust.

If you're going to play it often in a one up configuration, do yourself a big favor. Get a single Set O Matic tom arm for more versatility in positioning the tom.
