Got the snare on Friday and I'm happy to report that it indeed a solid shell...probably early to mid-sixties! That paint that is on this thing though, is some thick auto-grade stuff with primer! The interior of the shell is also completely covered in overspray. After a few attempts on one section, I was able to strip some paint off to reveal the original WMP wrap. Now, I have no need for a WMP drum like this, nor is it rare, nor do I have the patience to painstakingly remove the paint. Looks like I will be going with my original plan and it will become a blue sparkle snare to match my '58 Ludwig kit. Pics to come!
