I'm with you there. Seems to me the 14 is just a deadly sounding drum. Not going to get into the dangerous debate of American vs British musicians and songwriters. I'll paraphrase our old friend Phil Collins, who I believe once said that Americans might have been better musicians, but the British might have been better songwriters. x-mas3

I cant think of one british songwriter who was better than an american one. the mccartney/martin team was good but never as top notch as the wilson one. even tho the beatles stretched it 3 years ****her than they should have they still called it quits at the end of the decade and they were right in doing so; the beach boys lost their spark by the end of the 70s but EVERY great act fizzes out after a decade max.

The beach boys were already on oldies radio by the time I started high school in 74.
