Why have you abandoned us? We sit on the side, all alone, just waiting for that moment to be struck, are we not part of the drum set? What happened to the days when guys like Gene Krupa would build a whole song around us and Lionel Hampton would bring us to center stage and play us, alone, without any of our drum brothers grabbing the spotlight. The other drums get much more playing time these days and don't get me started on that glory hog kick drum. We must stand together and rise against our oppressors.

I love floor toms! My girlfriend likes nothing better than when I play SING, SING, SING on my dual floor tom BR kit! Long live the floor tom!

Remember the coup on floor toms from mounted rack toms hanging from stands? Bouncy bouncy bouncy on they went. but drummers loved them for a time. Took an afternoon to set the memory locks to get tom and cymbal perfectly positioned. Then a gang of navvies to carry the double braced hardware needed to set the whole lot up to and fro the gig. Oh the poor floor tom, disregarded and dumped.

But now things are on the up. The rack tom has been pushed back to where it belongs!

All hail the floor tom!!

I have more floor toms than rack toms, love the one up two down config. And my second floor tom is not a towel holder either, lol.

Been using two floor toms since the mid 70's. either a 14x14", 16x16" or two 16x16"s or 16x16" 16x18"

I use 2 floors from time to time. I'm sure its not good for posture but its fun.

Floor tom has always been my favorite part of the kit, it's got sort of a tribal feel to it.

I really like when the song enables me to just ride on the floor tom as I would on a cymbal. Makes me feel all powerful and thundering.

Oh, btw, it's also always the drum I have the biggest problem to get to sound how I want it to. I usually use quite a ridiculous amount of external muffling...
