Trade Ludwig Super Classics for Yamaha Recording Custom Last viewed: 1 minute ago

I have been offered a trade of my Ludwig Super Classics with Jazz Fest snare in WMP, for a Yamaha Recording Custom; 24 KICK , 13 15 AND 18 INCH TOMS 10 X 14 SNARE. The Yamaha set is in antique sunburst.

Any opinions on this trade?

Which kit suits your playing needs better? That will help you decide. Unless you're not much of a player, then I dunno what to say :)

WMP will be classic forever. Don't care at all for sunburst or the often odd Yamaha sizes.

A RC in the right finish with the right sizes I would consider. Turn down the offer.

that 10x14" Snare Drum you'll have to custom make a snare stand so as to get it to properly fit as a kit snare drum. I would pass.

13/15/18/24?

Sounds like half of a bigger kit.

I say no.

You'll be looking for a 12" or 16" forever.

My first "pro" kit was a yamaha tour custom.

I got 14/15/18/24 for $300

Took nearly ten years to find other drums to make it a playable set.

I like Drums...

These could be the older set sizes. Nothing strange there.

He means 14x8 a 14x10 has never been made.

With that in question, are the other sizes right (even in the light that they could be right)

A RC is a classic and all round. The Ludwig is a classic with a specific sound.

The good thing is that the RC is so popular for over 25 years, spare toms (and kicks) are offered weekly on the several selling sites like eBay and Craigslist. So getting extra toms would be no problem at all.

Which one suits your needs better, that is the question. A question you and only you can answer. Good luck with the decision :D

I sold the Ludwigs and bought the Yamaha RC's for 850.00. 24x16 Bass, 13", 15" mounted toms and 18" floor tom. and the 10x14 snare was actually a Yamaha RC tom converted into a snare. All Antique sunburst. What I forgot to mention is that I have the same Yamaha RC set in the same Antique sunburst; my set; 22x16 BAss, 10x9, 12" and 15" mounted toms. So now I have 24" and 22" bass drums, 10, 12, 13, 2, yes 2, 15' mounted toms and an 18" floor tom. All in Antique sunburst. The 10x14 snare? was actually a 10x14 tom that the guy added a snare strainer to convert it to a snare. I don't know why. So I don't know what to do with that. So now I have the Monster yamaha RC set. Now I have to decide what to part with as I do not want to keep all the pieces, just the 18" FT. I will probably keep the 10x14 snare/tom as no one would probably buy it. They are beautiful drums and sound fabulous. How big a mistake did I make?
