Trade my '72 Rogers for '73 Ludwig??? Last viewed: 0 seconds ago

Hey guys, just wanted an outside opinion on this before I pull the trigger. It's looking like a straight trade, my '72 Rogers Butcher Block for '73 Ludwig Blue Oyster...

Any thoughts? Anything I should be looking at when I check out the Ludwigs?

Some details:

Rogers have some mods, someone did an AWFUL job at trying to change the tom mount, tore up the inside of the bass drum pretty good...it's now cleaned up, parts switched to ludwig. Other than that all original

Ludwig looks great and sound deeeep (24/14/16/18!), some finish issues, and potential minor water damage on the bass drum, hard to say how bad it is just yet.

Yep.............!

funny, I went in to buy a 4 dollar part, stood in front of this kit for a few minutes and said the same thing. Going back in tomorrow, she might be the best Valentines date I've ever had!

As long as that bass drum is repairable (the water damage thing you mentioned), your life is going to change when you sit behind a big Ludwig kit like that. I mean it.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Nice larger Ludwigs,....I wouldn't think twice about it. Not a big fan of the butcher block either but just my own personal opinion.

Oh man... I've played both back in the day (yes, I'm old). The trade is a no brainer IMHO. The only mitigating circumstances would be the possibility of serious water damage. But, bar that, or only light staining... Heck yeah.

I'm not a big Luddy fan, but those are cool. I prefer smaller be-bop sizes. But in this case, I'd do the trade. Especially since the Rogers have the messed up bass drilling and the wrong mount. Do it.
