That sure looks like the one! I wonder who kidnapped the 13? I have the tom mount, but am weighing my options for the 14. Using a cymbal mount right now, but the stand is seriously unhappy about the arrangement...1800, my man. She looked and sounded great.

I may go for that but iam having a friend checking this set out it's 1,600.00 O.B.O. two 14x28's ,9x13,16x16,8x14 snare....yes i know it's a piece together set bass drums don't match-{ can sell off the one on the right in photo} but still the price is not that bad...Mikey

Glad to hear the deal went well. I would have gone for those. Love the sizes and condition. Congratulations on a great find.

Lot's of folks played those (and ordered them) sans the 13". Just off the top of my head was Ian Paice during the tour that resulted in the 'Made In Japan' album. And, of course Bonham had that set up in one of his configurations. Regardless, that is one sweet set up. Congrat's!

That's true. It could be that situation, too. But, my gut instincts tell me that there was another tom tom there at one time. Both L-arms are still there for one thing.

Man, I'm serious....if I were you (OP), I would build that kit up into a catalog representation kit! You can get all the hardware and stands easily and that elusive 13" "new bowling ball blue oyster pearl" tom is out there! That kit IS the 1975 catalog kit! A catalog version of a real Pro-beat? Awesome!

Ha, we'll see, don't want to start any projects just yet...I'm still trying to figure out how to set this one up! I just can't seem to get that 14" even close to where I need it, any suggestions? Snare stand?

I have a hard time geting my rack tom where I like it on anything bigger than a 20" bass drum!

Well, yeah...the bottom line is that you're not going to be able tp approach that size kit in the same way that you'd approach a Downbeat or a Jazzette!

The only options are:

#1. A LOWBOY snare stand -which will allow you to lower the tom more than the double mount would allow...but you also have to place it further to the side of the bass drum...six of one/half dozen of the other!

#2. "Hanging" the tom on a cymbal stand via a grabber type mount -basically the same situation as a snare stand, plus you have to "balance" the drum on a decent-size cymbal stand.

#3. The traditional way -which obviously places the tom higher than normal even when it's at its lowest position!

#4. Some sort of voodoo incantation, maybe...? ;)

Seriously, though, it IS a different size kit, after all. If it was a car, it would be a truck, so you have to "drive" it differently. Mister T
